For many of us, Monaco is synonymous with glamour, yachts and Grace Kelly; a location where royalty, F1 racers and tennis players roam free. So with so many great places to eat and drink, where do the locals go? See some of our insider tips below:
1. Hotel de Paris Monte-Carlo
This is an absolute “must” and is known to be the most iconic hotel in Monaco. So much so that it was believed to be Grace Kelly’s favourite placel and has featured in numerous James Bond movies. While a stay may be a little pricey (Lady Gaga and Julia Roberts are guests), taking in the views from the main square either by day or night is also beautiful.
2. Larvotto
A beach front area where you can discover both great restaurants and stunning views. Marcos La Rose des Vents is one of Tess’ favourites and is a known local “staple”.
3. Musee Oceanographique de Monaco
Casually sitting on a cliff, the Oceanographic Museum is housed in a neo baroque style palace (do we expect anything less? Sigh) in which you can visit the aquarium and learn about Prince Albert’s conservation efforts while also appreciating the Mediterranean views.
4. Monte-Carlo Beach Club
This famous beach club recently hosted Chanel’s fashion show. You can either rent a chair by the pool, a cabana by the beach or pretend you're in a Slim Aarons photoshoot. Make sure to pack some AWKN in your beach bag, to make those cocktails in the sun a little fresher.
5. Paloma Beach
Want to drive along some of those infamous, picturesque and adrenaline inducing hairpin turns of Monaco? Rather than pretend you’re a local F1 driver, we suggest you take the opportunity to visit Paloma Beach in Saint Jean Cap Ferrat - just 20 mins from Monte Carlo.
